What an Ordeal!!
So, my mom was supposed to arrive from Florida today for a visit. For those of you who don't know, my mom lives in Ocala, FL and tries to come visit about every 6 weeks. It seems that every time she comes something crazy happens with her traveling plans. Delayed flights, bad weather, lost luggage, destroyed luggage, extra fees, lost ticket, you name it, it has happened to her while trying to travel to Little Rock. Well, yesterday was no different. You see I said she was SUPPOSED to arrive yesterday. I'm sitting on my couch right now with no mom next to me. She was connecting through Houston and apparently there was a bad wind storm in Houston. So, to make a long story short she got stuck there over night. It was a very long night for her. They kept putting her on different flights and then saying they were canceled. Then they told her they were going to send her to Fayetville and DJ and I would pick her up. But she was worried about her luggage and they made her stand in the service line to figure that out and while standing there she missed the flight to Fayetville! So, after much crying and begging and one nice airline employee she was able to get on a flight that leaves at 7:10 this morning and she gets here at 8:30. Of course it couldn't even be that simple. She called me at 7:30 and they still hadn't left, but she was sitting on the plane. That's further than she got last night. So, hopefully she will be here around 9:00. I just called her phone and it is turned off so hopefully she is in the air as we speak. I just hope she gets here safe and her luggage gets here. Hopefully everything will work out fine. I've been praying all night that she gets here with luggage in tow. What a fiasco!!!!! On a happier note Makenna went to bed at 10:00 last night and woke up at 12:00 but she was still swaddled and on her Boppy so I just gave her her pacifier and she went back to sleep. Then she woke up at 1:00 and same thing. Then she slept until 5:30 this morning! Wow that was awesome!! Maybe our days of no sleeping are over, but I'm not going to celebrate yet.

YEAH!!
So, last night we put Makenna down at about 8:45. She would only sleep for about 5 minutes and then wake up. This went on for about 30 min. DJ and I tried everything we knew to do and it didn't work so we ended up letting her cry. She cried for about 15 min and then she fell asleep. She woke up at 11:00 and so I decided to put her in bed with us and see if that made her sleep better. She slept from 11:00 to 5:45 this morning!!!!! WOW!! I know people say not to let your children sleep with you but that was the firs decent nights sleep I've had in 6 weeks so I don't care. She slept great. I woke up several times to check on her and she was snoozing away. I still woke up a lot because I wasn't used to her sleeping with us but most of the time I was able to fall back asleep easily. Her little noises she makes when she is sleeping are so cute! I just laid there and listened to her and DJ sleep. It was a beautiful sound. So, for now until we can figure out what else to do Makenna is going to sleep with us. No matter what other people say, we need to sleep.

HELP!!
So, I know a lot of my recent posts have been about Makenna not sleeping, but that is because MAKENNA IS NOT SLEEPING! She was waking up every 3-4 hours for the past few weeks but this week she is waking up every 1.5-3 hours. Let me rephrase that. She is eating every 1.5-3 hours which means she is only sleeping 1-2.5 hours at a time. Let me give you an example from the other night. She went to bed at 8:30 then woke up at 11:00 then 12:30 then 2:00 then 5:00 then 7:00 then 10:30. Needless to say I'm tired. It's getting worse instead of getting better. I have tried just giving her a pacifier or having DJ reswaddle her but that just makes her go ballistic! When she wakes up she wants to nurse, that is the only thing that makes her go back to sleep. I don't mind nursing her, I love that, I just hate waking up all the time. My husband functions well without much sleep, but I on the other hand do not. We have tried everything but nothing has worked. Here are some of the things we have tried. I thought maybe she wasn't getting enough milk so I started taking Reglan to increase my milk supply. That didn't work. So we moved her dinner time back to 7:00 so she was eating solids with oatmeal at 7:00 to hopefully keep her fuller longer. No luck. She has slept swaddled since she was born and every time she woke up she was unswaddled so we switched to a bigger blanket, no luck. So then I thought maybe she was growing out of the swaddle so we tried putting her down without the swaddle, no luck. Then I thought maybe she was overtired at night so I started putting her down for a late afternoon nap in addition to her morning nap, no luck. So then I quit letting her take an afternoon nap, no luck. The only thing we haven't tried is letting her just cry herself to sleep. So, we are trying that now. She is crying her eyes out as I type this. I'm not a fan of the crying it out method, in fact I'm usually against it. But I'm out of answers, I don't know what else to do. This has been going on for weeks. And it's not like she is a newborn, that would be totally different. She is 9 months old tomorrow. She just stopped crying so we'll see how long it will last. So, I'm asking for everyone and anyone's help. Ask your neighbors, experts, friends, family members, I don't care who, I would jut like some help. It may not work but right now I'm totally at my wits end.

Daddy Is Funny
DJ took this video this weekend when he was keeping her. She usually thinks everything he does is funny. She is constantly laughing at him. When he comes in the door at night she gets a huge smile on her face and usually laughs or squeals. She loves her dad and he is a GREAT dad. In this video I think he may have just gotten her out of the bath or was about to put her in the bath. You'll have to ask him. Hope you enjoy. She is so sweet. I love her laugh!!

Sleeping
So, Makenna still isn't sleeping well at all. She is still waking up every 3-4 hours. I guess Shannon must be right, she must be going through a growth spurt because she feels a lot heavier. This must be the longest growth spurt in history because it has been going on for about 6 weeks. So, after me saying that she hasn't been sleeping, here are some pics of her sleeping. Ha!Ha! Her dad found her like this on Sunday morning when he went to wake her up to get her ready for church.

On Sunday night I was working so DJ was taking care of Makenna. When he puts her to bed he feeds her a bottle in our bed. After her bottle she fell asleep on his chest so he took some pictures of them.

After he got up she kept sleeping which is a big deal since she wasn't swaddled.
Then she rolled over and had her leg in the air. Her leg kept dropping and then she would pull it back up. He said it was hilarious.
When he gave her a bath Sunday night, he decided to style her hair. This is what he came up with. Thank goodness Daddy won't be doing her hair forever!

Last night DJ was putting Makenna to bed and he decided to lay in our bed with her until she fell asleep because he was tired too. I went to check on them and this is how I found them. Could they be any cuter?

Tuesday DJ was off work and we ran some errands. We went to WalMart and when we got home Makenna was asleep in the back. She was so cute I couldn't help but take some pictures of her.

In A Good Mood
When Makenna wakes up from her naps she usually doesn't cry, she just starts to fuss. So, one day last week when she was waking up I let her fuss for a few minutes like I usually do. She was in a really good mood and I sat her up in bed and we played. She was being really cute!

This is her new trick. When she was playing in her in crib she kept trying to pull up on the bumper pad. Then without warning she grabbed onto the crib rails and stood up! I was shocked. Since then she grabs onto things and stands up. Even when she is sitting next to her dad she grabs onto him and stands up. It won't be long now and she will be walking.

She's So Funny
Makenna has been slithering, scooting, whatever you want to call it for several weeks now. Recently she has started to scoot while she is sitting up. She can actually move pretty far scooting on her bottom. But just last night she was lying on the floor on her stomach and then she got up on all fours and started rocking. She did it several times. I tried to get a picture of it but of course by the time I got the camera, she had already straightened her legs. I don't think it will be long before she is moving all over the place.

After she ate her solids the other day, I gave her a duck to play with. I was playing with her with it and she bit it and held it in her mouth. It was so funny!

A few days ago Makenna was playing on the floor and she scooted over to where we keep Raider's toys. She managed to dump the bucket over and spilled Raider's toys all over the floor. Then she chewed on them before I could get them away from her. Raider was excited that she got his toys on the floor because he wanted to play with his toys but he is too scared to get a toy when they are in the bucket.
